Warning: Strobing Lights and Color

Flag of the World is a generative video composed from the national flags of every recognized country. Displayed in rapid, randomized sequence, the flags blur into one another—colors merge, borders collapse, and distinct emblems dissolve into an ever-changing visual field. The work explores the fluidity and complexity of identity in a world shaped by movement, exchange, and conflict. National symbols carry layered histories of pride and struggle, belonging and exclusion. As these symbols overlap, their meanings don't fade; instead, they build upon each other, revealing tensions and connections simultaneously.Rather than resolving into a unified image, Flag of the World embraces instability and contradiction. By layering flags never intended to share space, the work challenges fixed notions of identity and exposes the friction within collective representation. What emerges is not a single flag, but a continuous visual negotiation—reflecting a world defined by both entanglement and difference, and identities that remain unsettled, contested, and constantly in flux.
